Every year, millions of Europeans take part in dozens of Prides held in every corner of the continent. This impressive mass of queers and allies rallies behind one message: we exist, we are one, we want to be seen.
And yet each individual participant is drawn to these colourful parades for different, but very personal reasons. Some seek to connect, others to make their voices heard. Some want to celebrate community, others to engage in open political struggle. More often it is a combination of all of these.
Chasing the Rainbow is an attempt to give a place to all those voices and ideas and explore the state of Pride.
Chasing the Rainbow is a magazine about Pride that explores the LGBTQ+ community across Europe. The project investigates the state of Pride through a printed magazine with a thematic approach and online stories during Pride season.
The third issue is out now!

Magazine
#3 Pride is community
Pride is more than a parade or a season. Pride also creates a fragile, powerful web of solidarity and memory that connects queer people across borders and generations. In this issue, we explore the meanings of community.

Magazine
#2 Pride is celebration
Pride is both a protest and a celebration: colorful parades honoring hard-won LGBTQ+ rights, without ever forgetting the queer victims of hatred and exclusion. In the new issue, we explore the many meanings of celebration.
Project
Chasing the Rainbow started as a personal project
Writer Len Buggenhout set off in May 2024 on a journey that will eventually take him to Prides in all countries in Europe.
